In accordance with Presidential Resolution No. PP-157 of April 15, 2024, "On Measures to Implement the 'Construction of Internal Roads with Cement Concrete Pavement' Project with the Participation of the Asian Development Bank," construction work will be carried out in the Republic of Karakalpakstan to rehabilitate rural roads and maintain them under a performance-based maintenance system.
The necessary funding has already been allocated, and tender procedures have been launched for four project lots.
Under the project, US$18.5 million has been allocated to upgrade 61.3 kilometers of local roads across the republic with cement concrete pavement.
Specifically:
- Lot 1: Reconstruction of 16.6 km of roads across six sites in the Takhtakupyr, Karauzyak, and Chimbay districts.
- Lot 2: Upgrading 18.2 km of roads across seven sites in the Kegeyli and Bozatau districts, as well as the city of Nukus.
- Lot 3: Reconstruction of 14.1 km of roads across six sites in the Kungrad, Shumanay, and Kanlykul districts.
- Lot 4: Upgrading 12.4 km of roads across eight sites in the Amudarya, Beruniy, and Turtkul districts.
The implementation of this project will provide safer and more comfortable travel conditions for both residents and motorists while significantly improving the condition and long-term performance of the region's local road network.
