12 Major Facilities Commissioned in Karakalpakstan Ahead of Independence Day

Ahead of the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a ceremony was held to commission 163 new facilities across the country with a total value of 50 trillion sum, with the participation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Head of State congratulated representatives of the general public gathered at regional studios and, through them, the entire nation on the approaching major holiday.
Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Amanbay Orynbayev and representatives of the general public joined the ceremony via videoconference from the recently renovated Turan Stadium in Nukus.
During the event, the President symbolically pressed a button to launch 72 major investment projects and 91 social sector facilities.
As part of this large-scale initiative, 12 facilities were commissioned in Karakalpakstan. These include the Turan Football Stadium, renovated at a cost of 117 billion sum; a 200 MW wind power plant and a 100 MW Energy Storage System (ESS) with a total value of 3.1 trillion sum; the Karakalpakstan Scientific and Practical Medical Academy, worth 153 billion sum; and a lime production plant worth US$12 million.
Also commissioned was the Mangit water treatment facility, reconstructed at a cost of 167.7 billion sum with financing from international financial institutions. In Nukus, an aerated concrete block production enterprise worth US$15 million began operations, while a US$4 million project for the production of fiberboard products was launched in Kegeyli District.
In addition, a poultry complex worth 60 billion sum was commissioned in Nukus District. The new facilities also include a Pearson BTEC international education program project from the United Kingdom worth 3.3 billion sum, a modern private school in Nukus worth 21 billion sum, the newly constructed Secondary School No. 23 in Takhiatash District worth 8.5 billion sum, and a new preschool educational institution in Chimbay District worth 13.4 billion sum.
The commissioned facilities will serve the well-being of the people for many years to come.
