Another Major Wind Energy Project Launched in Karakalpakstan

Recently, under the leadership of the President of the country, 12 major facilities were commissioned in various regions of Uzbekistan, including Karakalpakstan.
Today, representatives of the general public and elders familiarized themselves with the operations of these facilities.
Their first visit was to the Nukus-2 project in Beruniy District, comprising a 200 MW wind power plant and a 100 MW energy storage system.
Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Amanbay Orynbayev noted that the launch of new energy capacities is a practical reflection of the large-scale reforms being implemented under the leadership of the President of the country and expressed gratitude to the Head of State for the opportunities being created for the further development of the region.
It should be noted that the territory of our republic is among the most favorable areas for the construction of wind power plants, providing broad opportunities for the effective use of the region’s natural potential. Karakalpakstan is characterized by steady and virtually continuous winds necessary for the efficient operation of such facilities and has significant potential for wind energy development. The construction and commissioning of this wind power plant have become an important step in the development of green energy.
The project, implemented by Saudi Arabian company ACWA Power, represents an important step for Uzbekistan toward a low-carbon energy future. As part of the project, wind power has been integrated with a battery energy storage system, which will help improve grid stability and the reliability of electricity supply.
Most importantly, the commissioning of the project has created additional opportunities to provide the population and sectors of the economy with a stable and reliable supply of electricity.
