Small HPPs Launched in Nukus District
As part of ongoing efforts to promote the efficient use of renewable energy sources and ensure stable electricity supply in the region, two small hydropower plants (HPPs) have been constructed and put into operation in Nukus district.
In particular, one of the plants was built in the territory of the "Akterek" citizens’ assembly, utilizing the flow of the Bozataw canal. This small HPP has a capacity of 15 kilowatts.
Another small hydropower plant was launched in the village of “Kyzyl Uy,” located in the “Kerder” citizens’ assembly, based on the water resources of the Turtkul Canal. The facility is capable of generating 30 kilowatts of electricity per hour.
These plants are designed to provide reliable and uninterrupted power supply to the local population and surrounding social infrastructure. At the same time, they serve as eco-friendly and cost-effective sources of energy, holding significant environmental and economic value.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, F. Ermanov, the Hokim of Nukus district, Z. Zaitov, and heads of relevant sectors.
During the event, participants were presented with detailed information about the technical capabilities of the mini hydropower stations, their operational mechanisms, and the financial savings they offer.
