110th Anniversary of Igor Savitsky’s Birth Widely Celebrated
A recent event was held to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth of Igor Vitalievich Savitsky - a renowned artist, cultural figure, and founder of the museum often referred to as the "Louvre of the Desert."
The event began with a visit to the grave of Igor Savitsky - a dedicated individual and prominent collector who made a significant contribution to promoting Karakalpak culture and fine art worldwide. Wreaths were laid in his honor.
Following this, a memorial gathering was held in the cinema hall of the State Museum of Art of Karakalpakstan named after I.V. Savitsky.
At the event, the head of a committee of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, M.Atamuratov, delivered a speech, in which he highlighted Savitsky’s tireless and proud efforts in introducing Karakalpakstan’s fine arts and culture to the world.
After that, representatives of the field delivered detailed reports on Igor V. Savitsky’s life and contributions.
As part of the event, a guided tour of the exhibition “The World of Igor Savitsky” was organized. During the tour, guests once again witnessed his journey as a collector, his creative legacy, and his deep passion for the fine arts.
