International “Aral Sea Cup” R1 Hand-to-Hand Combat Tournament Held in Nukus

Today, the central amphitheater of Nukus hosted the international “Aral Sea Cup” tournament among professional R1 hand-to-hand combat athletes.

Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Amanbay Orynbaev, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks and wished them success in the competition.

After the opening ceremony, the tournament bouts began. Professional athletes from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Türkiye, and Italy took part in the event.

• In the under 62 kg category, Abdumajid Kosimov (Uzbekistan) defeated Tosso Pietro (Italy).

• In the under 70 kg category, Nilufar Polvonova (Uzbekistan) defeated Aseliya Medvedeva (Belarus).

• In the under 73 kg category, Azizkhon Abdullaev (Uzbekistan) defeated Abror Khakimov (Kyrgyzstan).

• In the under 80 kg category, Gunduz Nabiev (Azerbaijan) defeated Aybek Makhsetov (Uzbekistan).

• In the under 97 kg category, Begzodbek Makhamadov (Uzbekistan) defeated Shahzade Makhsun (Türkiye).

The main fight of the evening was the heavyweight (97+ kg) bout between Evgeniy Bolotskikh (Russia) and Og’bek Zhumaniyazov (Uzbekistan), in which Og’bek Zhumaniyazov claimed a decisive victory.

The intense and hard-fought matches, filled with powerful strikes, left a strong impression on the audience. The winners were solemnly awarded cash prizes and commemorative gifts.
