High-Speed Train Reaches Miskin Station in Technical Test Run

Efforts to enhance the quality and accessibility of public transport services are gaining momentum, with major infrastructure upgrades underway across Uzbekistan’s rail network.
As part of these initiatives, work has been carried out to electrify the railway line along the Tashkent–Nukus route, paving the way for the introduction of modern high-speed train services. In a significant milestone, the first high-speed train has successfully arrived at Miskin station as part of a technical test run.
Electrification works are currently ongoing along the Miskin–Nukus stretch, which spans 196 kilometers and represents a key segment of the broader corridor.
Once completed, the project is expected to deliver several major benefits. It will enable the launch of high-speed electric train services, significantly improving connectivity across the region. The upgraded line is also set to boost domestic tourism and strengthen cultural ties between Karakalpakstan and Khorezm.
Perhaps most notably, travel time between Tashkent and Nukus is projected to be reduced dramatically—from the current 16 hours to just 7—marking a transformative step forward in the country’s transport infrastructure.
