Today Marks the Birthday of the Hero of Uzbekistan and Outstanding Poet Ibrayim Yusupov

People’s Poet of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan, Hero of Uzbekistan Ibrayim Yusupov was born on May 5, 1929, in Chimbay District — the land that nurtured his talent and became a source of inspiration for his future works.
His poetic legacy is profound and multifaceted. Collections such as “To the Traveler of Dawn,” “Lyrics of Happiness,” “Inspiration,” “This Troubled World,” “Homes,” “Seven Peaks,” “Wormwood of the Steppes,” “Salty Winds,” “The Boundless World of the Soul,” “Do Not Destroy Your Dignity…,” “One Soul Understands Another,” “Tomiris,” “Everyone Has Their Own Time,” as well as his “Selected Works,” have become an inseparable part of the spiritual treasury of national literature.
His poems, imbued with sincerity, philosophical depth, and a refined sense of language, are rightfully regarded as gems of Turkic poetry. They have found new life in many languages through translations into Kazakh, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Georgian, Bulgarian, and other languages of the world.
At the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a monument to the poet was erected in Nukus, and a creative school bearing his name was established as a symbol of recognition and continuity of his great legacy.
The poet’s name and his works continue to live in the hearts of the people. His legacy is carefully preserved, studied, and passed down from generation to generation.
At the “Three Generations” meetings, which have become a tradition in Uzbekistan, the life and works of Ibrayim Yusupov consistently occupy a special place, inspiring young people and strengthening the connection between generations.
One of the two great pillars of Karakalpak literature, an outstanding poet, Hero of Uzbekistan, and recipient of the “El-Yurt Hurmati” and “Dustlik” orders, he will forever remain in the grateful memory of the people. His immortal legacy continues to serve as an inexhaustible source of spiritual strength, inspiration, and moral guidance for future generations.
